They're relatively lightweight (or as lightweight as cast iron can be) and easy to move around. Plus they come in a variety of lovely color. The only mark against the Le Creuset Dutch oven is how expensive they are—which is exactly why you should buy one at a discount this Black Friday.

A Lodge cast iron skillet is one of those rare products that is simultaneously cheap and high-quality. People love these skillets, and they will last you a lifetime. Lodge pans come with a really robust seasoning that is glossy and slick right out of the box. While we also like the more expensive smooth cast iron pans that replicated the desirable qualities of vintage cast iron, we will always recommend Lodge pans for anybody dipping their toes into cooking with cast iron.

The Victoria cast iron pan is our pick for the best budget cast iron pan. While the ever-popular Lodge is a great pan, we feel that the seasoning on the Victoria is slicker and glossier right out of the box, and food was less likely to stick after the first couple of uses. Seasoning continues to develop on cast iron as you cook with it, so it's a small difference. But when given the task of choosing a best, this one simply came out on top.

We don't typically recommend sets of cookware because we think there's good reason to have, say, a stainless stockpot and saucepan, a carbon steel frying pan, etc. But if you pushed us, we'd point you to an All-Clad set. Their stainless steel cookware is the best out there, and the D5 line, considered the brand's premier range, features ultra warp-resistant five-ply construction.

Ceramic nonstick cookware is the go-to alternative to conventional Teflon-based nonstick pans for people looking to avoid PFAS. This is one of the few inexpensive, Amazon-first knife brands we thought performed well. It's a good looking knife, and while it won't be as durable as something like a Global or Mac knife, it is a bargain.

Breville makes a few mini toaster ovens that we love—along with a range of other kitchen gadgets and appliances. This feature provides smart algorithms that adjust settings as needed to optimize the cooking experience.

The Instant Vortex is our favorite air fryer because of its spacious cooking capacity relative to its kitchen footprint, and its easy to navigate control panel. This version has a clear view window, a rarity for bucket-style air fryers, allowing you to closely monitor the doneness of whatever you happen to be cooking.

Ninja Air fryer XL is a great, no frills, bucket-style air fryer. It is affordable, has a generous capacity, and will crisp up generous batches of french fries, wings, kale chips, or whatever else you like to air fry. Ninja air fryers are also pretty lightweight, so they are a good pick if you want to store it away after use.

If you want to invest in an espresso machine but maybe don't have a casual $1,000 to spare never fear—one of our favorite espresso machines by Breville is half that and on sale this Black Friday. The Bambino Plus is super easy to use, and will dispense a single or double shot or even steam milk at the press of a button. It also heats up pretty quickly.

While the Moccamaster makes a quality cup of coffee with little effort, our absolute favorite coffee maker is the Aiden from Fellow. The Fellow Aiden only recently came out this past year, and it very quickly dominated our best coffee maker testing. Ratio machines are, in some ways, just sexier Moccamasters. They are just easy to use, with the push of a single button. They also bloom the coffee and come with a killer thermal carafe that can keep coffee warm for more than two hours

The Fellow Gooseneck kettle doesn't just look nice, it's also got the performance and extra features to secure it a top spot in our electric kettle testing. The spindly spout offers precise pour control and the "guide mode" offers a range of boiling settings for whatever type of hot beverage you might need—including pourover coffee, black tea, green tea, and more. And our favorite feature: you can even schedule you water to boil ahead of time, much like you would with a coffee maker.

Café coffee makers made a name for themselves by being some of the first that would let you adjust, with some precision, the temperature of the water you're using to brew your pot of coffee. The brand also put out a very straightforward app that makes this, not only one of the best drip coffee makers, but one of the easiest to use.

Fellow's less expensive of its two coffee grinders is actually a more versatile model. This effectively does everything from espresso to cold brew and offers both macro and micro adjustments. Senior editor Noah Kaufman has been using it in his kitchen as an espresso grinder since it came out almost two years ago.

The best budget coffee grinder you can get. That's all. That's the tweet. For less than $100 (much less at the moment) you can get a quality burr grinder with grind by time functionality that puts out consistent coffee every time.

Oxo is good at basically everything it does—the brand just has an uncanny ability to make user-friendly kitchen equipment. Their drip coffee maker is no exception, with a simple one-button operation, the Specialty Coffee Association Gold Cup Standard certification, and the rainmaker showerhead that also makes their cold brew coffee maker a top performer in our product tests.

The Nanopresso is your espresso making friend when you're away from your home set-up. It's the size of a bluetooth speaker, and produces surprisingly-good espresso. It requires no electricity as you pump the machine yourself.

You can't get much better than a Vitamix when it comes to blending. The brand's simple, streamlined 5200 model is one of our favorites in testing. It features an easy-to-use knob to change speeds, and is one of the most powerful blenders we've ever tested. It's certainly an investment, which is what makes sales like Black Friday such a great opportunity to buy one.

If you're tight on kitchen space and want to be able to easily tuck your blender under your overhead cabinets, or you're frequently blending in smaller batches, go for the Propel 510. It has a smaller, lower-profile container, and three preset programs for hot soup, smoothies, and frozen desserts.

The Explorian is the most affordable blender in Vitamix's lineup, but it still features the signature high powered performance level that sets the brand apart in our product testing time and time again. Plus, its lower profile container makes it a great option for anyone who's short on kitchen space.

This 4.5-quart KitchenAid stand mixer is the perfect size for most home cooks, it has 10 speeds, and unlike the larger bowl-lift models, it has a tilt-head design that lets you hinge back the head of the mixer to easily place and remove the bowl, and to add ingredients while you work.

The Breville Smart Oven is the sort of appliance that can really change your relationship to cooking, for the better. These things are much more than your old school toaster oven. They are multifunctional countertop convection ovens that can do the job of a full-size oven in all sorts of instances. What sets the Breviile apart from other high-end toaster ovens is its Element iQ system, which senses and adjusts the cooking conditions for ideal results.

Sure, these days we are more partial toward larger and more multifunctional toaster ovens, but there's something to be said for the classics. This is especially a good choice if you are looking for something more compact, as that is increasingly rare these days.

Indoor pizza ovens are typically…not so good if we're being charitable. That's because they don't get hot enough to do what a pizza oven is supposed to. That's not the case with the Ooni Volt, which can easily top 800 degrees and was a winner of our first Kitchen MVP awards.

The Ooni Koda is the closest thing you can get to a proper pizza oven without committing to a several-thousand-dollar install. The Koda is compact and modular, with almost no assembly necessary out of the box, and connects to a propane tank like a typical gas-burning grill. It takes approximately 15–20 minutes to get up to optimal pizza-cooking temperatures (750°– 850°F) and has a maximum heat setting of 950°F. This 3-cup rice cooker from Zojirushi is a staple in test kitchen editor Kendra Vaculin's kitchen. No fancy touchscreens or ten million settings to choose from here: This thing makes great rice at the touch of a single button, and that's all. With a smaller capacity and footprint than many of the other rice cookers out there, it's the ideal option for people in smaller sized households or kitchens.

Nervous about making perfect rice? Then you need this rice cooker with Zojirushi's proprietary "Neuro Fuzzy" technology—which adjusts the time and temperature as necessary. It works even (or especially) if you mess up the rice-to-water ratio too.

Don't be fooled by the simple design of this rice cooker, it just so happens to be one of the top performers in our product tests, and our favorite budget rice cooker. The reason is simple: it cooks rice exceptionally well. In blind taste tests, the rice this machine cooked scored alongside machines that cost twice as much. It doesn't offer a ton in terms of preset functions, but for being a basic rice cooker, it's about as good as it gets.

Zojirushi rice cookers have grown incresingly popular in the states. We're big fans of programmable rice cookers in general because they take the work out of cooking rice on the stove top, and utilize fuzzy logic to make temperature adjustments for well-cooked batches of rice. Also, they famously sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to you, and how can you not be charmed by that?

If you're still using the original Instant Pot Duo, consider upgrading to the newer Rio while it's on sale. The Rio is an upgraded version of the OG instant pot that was released in 2022, but it's sleeker, slimmer, and easier to use.

The Thermapen is our favorite digital probe thermometer. While there are plenty of generic versions on the market, none of them compare to the Thermapen in terms of speed and precision. Wireless thermometers like this are great for any budding grill master looking to hone their skills. Monitor low and slow cooking from afar without constant checking, all from an app on your phone.

It might feel excessive to spend over $100 on a trash can, but this isn't just any old trash can. This is a Simplehuman trash can.
